Last year we witnessed the beginning of an unprecedented
global pandemic; an event which has presented an enormous threat to the health
of communities the world-over. However, in the midst of such uncertainty, nations
have collectively proven that together we have the tolerance, capability and
agility to rapidly re-prioritise and change the way we live and work for the greater
good.
COVID-19 has brought about a global reappraisal
of economic priorities which has firmly put people and the planet first. And following the
launch of Greater Manchester’s new Economic Vision at the end of 2020, our city
region is poised to leverage the expertise of our deeply inventive and
collaborative eco-system in order to rebuild and accelerate the growth of industry and
create new highly skilled jobs for a cleaner, greener and
healthier world.
Where the Industrial Revolution was born, Greater Manchester
is home to an established community of experts who are continually powering
innovation – a major driver for new investment into the region. Launching soon,
the region’s new Innovation GM programme will focus on building out the
existing R&D infrastructure by providing key talent and better
networks; making it easier for businesses to test and commercialise new ideas,
and by creating more visible innovation zones.
Already this year we have seen the launch of The University
of Manchester’s new Christabel Pankhurst Institute for Health Technology which promotes
the leading role of women in science and adds even more depth to a flourishing culture of health innovation in the city region.
MIDAS’ vision for raising Greater Manchester’s profile and
attracting more high value investment has never been more ambitious. But today,
we stand more committed to championing this new blueprint for the modern
economy and crucially, we acknowledge that people and the planet are at the heart of
productivity and profitability.
As always the team at MIDAS are here to support and inspire your business to excel in Greater Manchester. Please don't hesitate to contact us to discuss how we can help you to innovate your products and services or if you need any support and guidance following the EU Exit.
